Sadly, they've observed Australia dismantle the tourists in just 11 days from their residence in Penwortham, Lancashire.

"People in the office has been giving me grief about it being over for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"Our expectation had been that we would have something to play for by the time we arrived."

Diminishing Hope

Hope was abundant regarding the team's prospects of breaking a 15-year drought for a triumph on Australian soil prior to the first ball.

However, the situation is now staring down the barrel of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the Boxing Day Test begins in the MCG on Christmas Day.

The tourists - and their supporters - will be hoping to sidestep a whitewash.

One sibling noted the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the positive style of play in recent years had "reinvigorated" Test cricket for followers of the team.

But the Ryding siblings said they had realistic outlooks for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are requesting from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Every pundit alludes to it, but it all is about psychological strength. 'Bazball' has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," commented another sibling.

"Over the course of five days, you should apply yourself. Playing at deliveries 'wide of off stump has never been in the textbooks, and that is primarily due to the batting lineup."

Future Prospects

Prompted about he believed England will secure a victory in the current series, came the reply: "It appears the hosts are a stronger side currently."

"There is going to have to be multiple performers that stands up for England and produces a match-winning display."

Even with the series lost, the group remains anticipating the trip.

"We will have a fantastic experience nonetheless," commented Katie Ryding. "Our approach is that outlook."

"Of course, it's unfortunate we don't have more to play for, but we have made a substantial financial commitment as it is."

"We will make the most of celebrating the holidays in Australia. It is also our first experience away from home at this time of year."

A schoolteacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the lengthy journey as part of her time off.

"If all else fails, there's always golf to fall back on," Katie concluded.
